Does anyone else find it ironic that some actors are the biggest critics of Donald Trump? Some go so far as to call him a fraud. All actors are frauds. It is literally their job description and was established by their demi-god playwright William Shakespeare. All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.
Frankly, I don’t understand the disdain that some people have of Happy Gilmore. Sorry, I mean Donald Trump.
Do you remember the film? Hockey player wins PGA tour while exemplifying crazy behavior while the real golfers criminally plot against him. That’s literally the storyline of how Trump became president.
I want to be as clear as possible about this, I neither like nor dislike Trump. What I have for him is a huge amount of underlying respect for playing his game so well. Trump is like all other spoiled rich kids who were never held responsible for their actions because the system was too afraid of the power wielded behind them, ie the parents. He has no one to check his behavior and to hold him accountable. It’s why we see so many rich kids wrapped around trees or dead from drugs. He would have been one if he had chosen a different path.
Now it is his fault that he has built this persona that is so easy to prod, poke and blame. And that he wasn’t able to hear the quips behind him to take action to be a more stable member of society but in the end, it’s ultimately the fault of society and not the man.
Let’s look at how the same behaviors manifested itself in the world of Star Wars. The first Star Wars film is and was one of the best films of all time. Why was this? My guess, George Lucas hired a good team of people and got out of their way. He was willing to listen to their ideas when they veered away from his vision. By the last film of the trilogy the audience knew something was missing but still bought in. The next 3 were the outcome of one person’s vision trumping all other ideas. And the outcome was a film that tried to sell technology instead of a story through the voice of an annoying Jar Jar Binks. Awful. Sorry George. The last 3, no idea and don’t care. The story, creativity and strong acting was gone in exchange for tech that droned on and on.
Why is this important? Where is the connection? Trump has always been a Lucas. He has never had to listen to the voice of reason or others. So why is it such a surprise that he doesn’t now. It’s like smokers. The warnings on the box are clear and people still don’t listen.
I agree that we have a problem in the USA but I think the fault or blame lies elsewhere starting with those who vet politicians, politicians and citizens who enable and support bad products and bad behavior from those who yield the power. It’s time to hold them accountable.
